Women have been thought to be good girls, but good girls don't show off with their stuff (and ideas). We are expected to be humble and servants if asked, but not outgoing, offering solutions to people's problems. To combine this good girl syndrome with a general attitude toward selling (salespeople are sleazy, self-centered, annoying, shark-type of persons - who we don't want to be), the result is - a poor outcome.
